When working with any type of welding electrodes, it is important to ensure they are clean and free of debris before starting to work on a specific work piece. Once the electrodes are charged and ready to go, the welder will connect them to a welding gun and start the process. Most people prefer to start their work by starting in a separate work piece, such as a puddle or a weld puddle. If you want to start your weld puddle, ensure that you have two types of electrodes – a pair that are the same size should do the trick, otherwise use one of your smaller conductors. When connecting the electrodes to the gun, ensure that they are loose enough that they can move around the gun without rubbing up against each other.

The next step is to place the tumbler into the work piece. This will be done by turning the tumbler to the side so that it points towards the work piece you are working on. Now place the tumbler over the weld area and place the gun over the weld and squeeze the trigger for the tumbler to rise up to eye level. It will take about thirty seconds to rise the tumbler to eye level before squeezing the trigger again.
